Rev. Edell Ross Sr. was born on February 26, 1983, in Houston, TX. Raised in a Christian home, he grew up learning the importance of faith, community, and service to others. Rev. Ross accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized and united with St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Carr. During his youth, Rev. Ross was deeply involved in the church, actively participating in Sunday services, Bible study, and youth programs.
In April of 2009, Rev. Ross was led by God to move his membership to the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of the late Pastor Curtis C. Lewis. He served faithfully in the church actively participating in Sunday services, Bible study, and youth programs. Through these formative experiences, he cultivated a heart for people and a passion for spreading God’s Word. This engagement with the church helped Rev. Ross discern his future role as a spiritual leader.
Rev. Ross accepted his call to the ministry of the gospel in July of 2011. Rev. Ross was licensed to preach the gospel by his former pastor, the late Curtis C. Lewis on August 28, 2011. He was ordained by his current Pastor Rev. Dayle Perry on January 19, 2014. Over the years Rev. Ross has served in the following capacities at the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church: Youth Minister, Vacation Bible School Director, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Member of the Pastor’s Advisory Committee.
Rev. Ross graduated from Mac Arthur Senior High School and later attended Remington College and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Rev. Ross attended Christian Bible Institute and Seminary and received an Associate of Arts in Christian Counseling Degree. He also attended United Theological Seminary and Bible College/Houston Campus in pursuit of a Bachelor of Theology Degree.
Rev. Ross has been married for 14 years to Christine Ross. He is a devoted father of three: Edell Ross Jr, Joseph Ross, and Briana Ross. As a family, they are dedicated to supporting one another in their individual and collective callings. Rev. Ross often speaks about the importance of family and the strength that comes from having a solid spiritual foundation at home.
Rev. Ross believes in the power of faith to transform lives. He has a vision for church growth, community development, and discipleship. Rev. Ross is committed to his calling to shepherd, teach, and inspire all those who are seeking a deeper relationship with God.
